“Life is ten percent what you experience and ninety percent how you respond to it.” –

The fear of cancer can be greater than cancer itslef. It is easy fall for anxiety, panic and despair when fighting with cancer for your life. Easier said than done, but remaining calm and keeping your cool is going to help you a lot.
If you think about the future and the effects cancer would have on you, it can lead to panic and anxiety. Just take one day at a time, breather and acheive the toughest task of keeping calm and being cool as you fight it off with cancer.
Personally for me, I had to be calm because of my two young children. My son was four years and daughter just one. Everytime I lost my cool they would Panic along with me. They picked the vibes and I could see the fear in them that something was not right. I had to train myself not just to pretend to be calm but actually maintain the cool from within. I was very careful with the emotions of my children, which finally paid off. It not only made them relax but boosted my confidence as well. Being cheerful actually made the situation look less threatening.
The panic and anxiety had stripped me of my hope, sanity, confidence and intelligence. Deep breathing, positive thoughts, being mindful and taking one day at a time was great booster to my strength to fight cancer.
So, no matter what you are going through - just stay Calm. It too shall pass.
What a beautiful post about hope and a great attitude in the midst of fighting cancer. This really touched my heart. Thank you!

ReplyDeleteHaving children would certainly complicate matters but maybe they also took your mind off your worries. Staying calm for their sake maybe helped you focus on your mental well being. I don't know how I would cope but your strategies seem to be the way to go.
