Republic Of Gamers
One Nation, One Passion, One Flag (ship)
In today’s
world, when the words like republic and democracy have lost their meaning,
there is land where rests the hope of Republic – where there is no politics,
bribes or killings. This is our land of one language, one citizenship, one flag
and one passion – GAMING!
Welcome to
ROG – Republic Of Gamers, were you need neither passports nor visa for entry,
but just that exact amount of burning passion for games. Enter the land of wars
without bloodshed, races without pollution or waste of fuel and complete
entertainment.
When
Bangalore is reeling under some unusual summer heat, there was some cool news
for ROG citizens by ASUS on April 21, 2016. Long, before laptops and desktops
made way in my life, I have been passionate about gaming. Slowly with handheld
games in the beginning to TV games like Othello, Mario and later Test Drive,
NFS Most Wanted, games have been an integral part of my life for more than 35
years now. The only thing that holds me back from buying every mean machine
launched in the market is my bank balance. Only those who love gaming will know
what it means to be a gamer……………………sigh! So, I rushed to have a look at the new
devices being launched by ASUS.
It is
amazing event where ASUS announced the launch of a new line-up for its flagship
Republic of Gamers (ROG) series, taking gaming up to the next level in India.
The breath-taking range of devices, where not just beauties to show but came
with Quad core 6th Gen Intel core i7 (Skylake) and NVIDIA GeForce GTX™ 900
series graphics which made them mean machines To Up Our Game.
The
outstanding champion in the event was one of two gaming grade desktops with
refined aesthetics which made you feel as though you are handling an Alien
Space Machine with an ET watching over your shoulder. Yeah, off course I am
talking about the aggressively designed Titan of the gaming world walking in grey-and-copper
armour to conquer our hearts - The Asus ROG GT51. No wonder this amazing device
is the winner of a 2016 CES Innovation Award in the Gaming and Virtual Reality
category.
What gives
this machine an out of world look is the circular vent which appears like an
Alien
Eye. This attractive feature is part of the cooling system, bringing air in through the front panel, and expelling it through vents on the top and rear. GT51 has an internal cooling system with a dedicated air tunnel that takes advantage of natural convection to ensure efficient heat management during marathon gaming sessions. On the way out it combines with liquid cooling to keep the GT51 from overheating, when games gets heavier and lasts longer.

What makes
desktops more interesting than the laptops is the option of customizable
configurations to meet our needs. Inside this giant, I am sure there is enough
room for more graphics cards to enhance the gaming experience, if it can get
any better. ROG Turbo Gear lets users maximize GT51’s full overclocking
potential with just one click, while the ASUS-exclusive Aegis II application
helps monitor system parameters. In addition, a USB 3.1 Type-C port on its
front panel provides data transmission speeds of up to 10Gbps and is able to
quick-charge mobile devices. GT51 features the exclusive ROG Band to let users
activate Shadow Drive — a hidden hard drive space — or overclock GT51 as well.
Add to this
ROG Swift PG348Q Gaming Display – 34 inch gaming monitor with an Ultra-Wide
Quad HD (UWQHD) (3440 x 1440) panel, 100Hz refresh rate and Nvidia G-SYNC
technology, and there is nothing in the world that can pull you away from your
games.
Leave alone
gaming, life is never going to be same again if I own this mean beast, who I
have fallen in love with.
But that
was not all ASUS had to brag about, though I was hooked on to it.
The latest
additions also included:
· High-performance gaming laptop ROG
G752VY
· High-end gaming desktops G20
· Unveils GL552VW and G551VW mainstream
laptops
· The ultraportable and slim ROG G501VW
Good enough
to entice the gamers to give up everything in their lives to get hooked on to
their passions.
The G752VY is
loaded with Windows 10, a 6th-generation Intel® Skylake Core™ i7 processor, up
to 64GB DDR4 RAM, and the latest NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX™ 980m graphics, ROG G752 for
the out of world gaming performance. It even features the ROG-exclusive mobile
3D Vapor Chamber for increased cooling performance, and a backlit anti-ghosting
gaming keyboard with 30-key rollover for precise command and control in battle.
Who is waiting for the war cry????
Among the
towering giants, there stood a ROG G20CB device, making its presence felt with
a powerful, compact features with refined aesthetics. Adding to the joy of
gamers, this device comes with 2.5” and 3.5” slots for SSDs and HDDs, the G20
supports the latest M.2 PCIe Gen 3x4 SSD which gives you data access speed of
up to 2Gbits/s, -- four times faster than SATA SSDs. With up to an NVidia GTX
980, the G20 is suited for surround displays or for 2K or 4K monitors. It also
includes exclusive ASUS ROG Aegis II software with GameAlive for instant
gameplay recording, editing, and streaming, and GameFirst III for network
traffic management. WOW! That is all I can say.
We were
also introduced to Asus ROG G501VW which had NVidia GTX960M Graphics in a Slim
(20.6mm) and lightweight (2.06kg) metallic design. What makes this machine
special is its 4K IPS panel with 178-degree viewing angles, ASUS SonicMaster
and ROG AudioWizard enhanced audio complements the experience. For those who
seek jigh-performance gaming laptop with enthusiast grade graphics and silent
cooling system, their search ends here.
Finally I
have to mention the GL552VW which is targeted for the users who desire powerful
notebooks with high performance gaming grade hardware in a stylish and compact
package. Not everyone is a fan of towering all powerful hulk. For trivia lovers
here is a fact - the design of ROG GL552VW is inspired by the F22 Stealth
fighter aircraft. Apart from all new metallic design with a backlit ROG logo
that goes in line with the Republic of Gamers theme, the interior has also been
upgraded to a new level. The device is power packed with Quad core 6th Gen
intel core i7(Skylake), NVidia GTX 960M graphics with blazing fast 4GB GDDR5
graphics memory, 16GB ultrafast system memory, a TB of storage along with 128
GB SSD.
That should
cater to the needs of all different gamers of our world for now! Off course,
new demands will come up in days to come and I feel ASUS will be ready for us.
At present they have innovated beyond my imagination and expectation.
One of the
worst things that can happen to gamers when everything is moving according to
the plan is the heating up of machines. Tackling this problem head-on, ASUS has
made certain of a lasting and uninterrupted gaming experience with their latest
models which counters the issue of quick heating with commendable variants of
cooling technology.
Elaborating
further on the launch and the gaming industry, Peter Chang, Regional Head -
South Asia & Country Manager – System Business Group - ASUS India, said,
“Gaming technology is always evolving as a gaming enthusiast is always looking
for upgrading or enhancing their systems. Today, along with high performance
and graphics, gamers also want their machines to be portable and light-weight.
With our new ROG series launch, we have tried our best to cater to the demands
of all the gaming segments i.e. from entry and mainstream levels to
professional gaming. It has always been our endeavour to provide the best
gaming experience to the users and ultimately help the gaming industry in India
to thrive”.
Good news
for us gamers.
The most
powerful gaming laptops will are killers priced at // ROG GT51 – starts at INR
3,25,900// ROG G20CB –INR 1,22,990 // ROG G501VW - INR 95,490 // G551VW - INR
1,00,490 // G752VY - INR 179,990 and GL552VW - INR 82,490. Not affordable by
many middle class Indians, but then gamers have that exclusive stack of INRs
stacked in a secret corner for their gaming needs.
Looking
forward to owning one of those mean machines to beat my son, who is a great
gamer and competitor for me. One of these devices should clearly give me an
advantage on him.
