My son Rayyan has started blogging recently. He wanted to write about his animation course and
his experience of learning there. Somehow he decided to write how he finally
got to choose the profession he always loved, by going through the struggles in
his school and college. Though I was a caring and loving Mom, I am getting a
closer glimpse to what he has been through by reading it in his own words.
So I am dedicating this present post to introduce the readers to Learning Disabilities which may help them to stop another child from being tormented like Rayyan was. I did my best to be there and support him all through his struggles but it has been very tough for him.

Deletesometimes i think we all have some LD or the other. I may be a good reader but I cant draw for nuts. There are people who cant sing, cant dance, cant do sports yet we only call academically challenges as 'disabilities'
ReplyDeleteThere are things like people not understand the graphs or geography, directions, numerals etc. Singing, dancing and sports are not required life skills. They are extra activities or hobbies of choice. One of the reasons why a person who cannot sing is not said to be disabled.

ReplyDeleteMy fresh perspective comes from my own experience. It is different to hear about the drowning experience and feel it for yourself ;)
DeleteLD .. completely destroys the emotional framework of children. the world externally is tormenting enough...but when it gets inside the child ...its the child inthe adult who suffers silently.

DeleteHow true! One must be aware and not act panicky as that may lead to hasty decisions that may hurt the child and affect him in a negative way. Ld needs to be dealt with in the right manner..

DeleteOh this is a very difficult thing. I mean you won't even know that someone is suffering which means you will go through a difficult phase before figuring it out. Thanks for sharing and you should be proud as a mother when you see your son achieving heights...:)

Did anyone consider the idea of reforming the English spelling, which is known in linguistic circles to be one of those most awful of all Western spelling systems, to boost literacy? It is used by 1/3 of the world's population, so it would be a ROI (return on investment, I think)! 88 spelling rules! 400 ways to spell 42 phonemes using 26 letters! (Finnish has 1 letter for every phoneme and Finland's students top international tests [PISA] consistently. Connect the dots!) 24 ways to spell the "oo" phoneme like in "moon"! Want to know more.
