The Fatal Blow

I, who faced all alone
Each of my enemy’s attacking stone
I, who always stood strong,
To prove my every opponent wrong
I, who never fell down,
But had seeds of my victory sown
I, whom even a rock,
Failed to give a mild shock
I who made everything rebound
And yet stood safe and sound
I, who was very proud,
Of not receiving even bruises
By a pebble thrown by the one I loved
Was broken into pieces

The one who can hurt you very deeply can only be the person who you have loved. At times I write down something because I love to write but at times my feelings just flows out in form of words... This is one of those feelings. I weakest and most vulnerable I felt was the time when I went through the last cycles of Chemotherapy. Shaken, tired and broken, I almost threw in the towel but then all of sudden there was surge of energy in me, which has kept me pushing even to this day, nearly 16 years down the line.

  1. Farila, this is so beautiful and very moving! So many of us go through life being "put down" but it takes a very strong woman, like you, to get back up on your feet again!
    I admire you so much!

  2. Hi Alice.. Thank you so much for being supportive always.
That is one of the worst period of life which made me feel low and depressed. For a moment there I thought I could not dig myself out...

  3. I am becoming a fan of your writings...the words depict such deep meaning...yes I agree with you...the one we think will never hurt us are ones that cause the greatest distress in life...no matter what ever philosophies we conjure and say come my way I can handle it, at the end of the day we are but human mortals...with a heart....aint we:)

  15. *Bows Down*

Sometimes you fall short of words to express how good something is, this is one of those poems...its only when words are adorned by feelings that something so wonderful is formed.

While this is excellent poetry, I do hope you never have a phase like that again, God Bless!!!

  27. So rightly said Farida. Those really close to us are the only ones who can hurt us as we give them the right to do that, we open up our innermost feelings to them allowing them to trample all over it - intentionally or unintentionally. When someone who's distant says something, we take it in through an ear and throw it out the other. But near and dear ones, their words cut through the heart! You're an amazing woman Farida, stay that way!
